Head Lice & Bad Parenting?

by Tracey on September 21, 2009

The fear that having children with head lice means you’re a bad parent is a myth that, unfortunately, plagues many parents. Upon discovering that a child has been infected with head lice, a loving parent may beat themselves up with this harmful idea that lice result from poor parenting.

Just as a person may come down with the flu after being exposed to someone already infected, head lice infections are contagious, too. This is simple biology, a matter of science—not bad parenting!

Consider that the presidents of two Latin American countries—Colombia and Costa Rica—have both recently come down with swine flu. Costa Rica’s president is a Nobel Peace Prize winner, so you see that contagious medical conditions are no respecter of social class, character, or achievement! Why beat yourself up with this harmful myth? Getting sidetracked with unnecessary guilt and shame will not help your child.

The Solution:

You need to focus on the real issue at hand: the lice!

You need a quick, effective, and, above all, safe solution for your child’s problem.

My natural remedy will have your child lice-free in no time.

I know exactly what you mean! Lice are something I wouldn’t wish on my worst nightmare. My daughter got it, and i tell you, we tried like EVERYTHING there was to try. It’s super contagious now, and practically ALL her friends got it at the same time too. It’s spreading through the elementary schools like you wouldn’t believe. Anyway, thanks for the post on finding a great natural treatment! I think natural is better than the poisonous shampoos on the market!

And, no of course, its not bad parenting, it happens to EVERYONE nowadays! We just gotta get smarter at killing them.

Sheila
